Frequently Asked Questions
Surf Club ATX is a premium wakesurf boat charter company on Lake Austin in Austin, TX. We offer wakesurf lessons, sightseeing tours, and curated private charters aboard a 2025 Moomba Max — one of the best wakesurf boats available — for up to 10 guests.
You can book directly through our website at thesurfclubatx.com. The Sightsee & Chill and Surf & Party Cove charters can be booked online. For the VIP Experience, use our custom inquiry form and we'll be in touch within 24 hours.
Wakesurfing is a board sport where you ride the boat's wake without being attached to a rope — you surf the wave the boat creates. Unlike wakeboarding, there's no rope harness and the speeds are slower (around 10-12 mph), making it more accessible and beginner-friendly.
We offer three tiers: Sightsee & Chill ($250/hr) for laid-back lake cruises, Surf & Party Cove ($300/hr) for active wakesurfing and anchored hangouts, and a VIP Experience (starting at $400/hr, inquiry-based) for fully customized premium outings.
Please review our current cancellation policy on our booking page at thesurfclubatx.com. Policies differ between our Jet Ski Rentals and Boat Charters. We recommend booking in advance, especially during peak season (April–September).
Most first-timers can stand up and ride the rope within 15-30 minutes with proper instruction. Dropping the rope and surfing the wave freely takes a bit more practice — usually 2-4 sessions for most riders. Our instructors coach you through every step.
The VIP Experience is our top-tier offering — a fully customized charter starting at $400/hr. Details are handled through a private inquiry form so we can tailor everything to your group's needs. It's ideal for corporate events, special occasions, and guests who want a curated, luxury lake day.
We operate exclusively on Lake Austin, one of Austin's most scenic and calm waterways. Our charters launch from the Loop 360 Boat Ramp. Navigation is confined to Lake Austin, ensuring a safe, focused experience.
Safety is our first priority. If weather conditions are unsafe for Lake Austin operations, we'll reach out to reschedule your charter. Light clouds and mild wind are generally fine — we operate in a wide range of conditions.
We recommend bringing sunscreen, sunglasses, a towel, and a change of clothes. Swimwear is ideal. We provide life jackets and wakesurf boards. You're welcome to bring your own beverages and food — just no glass bottles on the boat.
We welcome riders of a wide range of ages — generally 8 years and up for lessons. All minors must have signed parental consent. Our instructors adjust coaching style based on age and ability level.
We run a 2025 Moomba Max, a world-class wakesurf vessel built specifically for surf-style wakeboarding. It can comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests and is equipped with premium ballast, surf shaping technology, and onboard sound.
Absolutely. Our instructors are trained to teach beginner-to-intermediate wakesurf riders. We start every new rider with proper stance, board selection, and rope technique — most first-timers are up and surfing within their first session.

Heavy rain or lightning will result in a full cancellation and refund (minus the 4% transaction fee).
